Music and Art Web Sites
Music

Here you will find music and art web sites for k-6 students. Part of my criteria for choosing a web site for my web page is that the site must have little to no advertising. Advertising is very distracting to students. I also rather have a web site that has ten excellent hyperlinks with descriptions instead of a list of link after link. I encourage you to choose two or more sites and gain confidence using those web sites. I hope you enjoy these web sites. If you have any suggested links that you would like me to add, or have a topic that you would like me to cover, please contact me. I would love your input. If you find any broken links please let me know.

Music Web Sites:

The New York Philharmonic
A great site that allows students to learn about orchestras, composers and instruments. Very fun and interactive.

Play Music.Org
Another great site that is very interactive. This site teaches students about orchestras, composers, and instruments. It also allows students to make their own music.

Teoria: Music Theory Web
This site provides music theory through animated lessons. You will need to have Macromedia flash for this site as well as most of the above sites.

Music Note Quiz
I would use this site for a pre and post test score. It is a simple "identify the note" quiz.

Guide to the Orchestra!
This is a BBC site. You will notice on my web page I use a lot of educational web sites from the BBC. They provide many outstanding resources and most of them are advirtising free! Here is another wonderful web site in their arsenal. It allows the student to learn about each instrument. The student will also be able to hear the sound the instrument makes.  Great Web Site!

Dallas Symphony Orchestra

This site is not only for students but it is an excellent site for teachers. As they state on their web page:
magical doorway to a world of musical fun and learning for students, parents and teachers! Another great web site!

Gloabal Music Lesson Plans
This site is for teachers or homeschooling parents. It is an excellent source that will help one incorporate multicultural lessons into music.

Classics for Kids
Learn about the classics, composers and also get to listen to music. The site includes a dictionary and games..what more could you ask for!

Virtual Keyboard!
Play music on your computer. One of my favorite sites.

ART
 Arts Rage
Art Rage is a downloadable program that allows you to sketch, oil paint etc. It is an absolutely amazing art program. The version that is free doesn't have all the bells and whistles and you might want to purchase the full version once you get in and begin creating beautiful art.

 Artsonia
Artsonia is a place where students, schools or parents can upload their child's artwork. The artwork is viewable at the museum. Artsonia also provides wonderful art projects and many teacher resources.

 Tux Paint
I feel that Tux Paint is one of the best software resources for schools. Tux Paint is open source software. Check my "Free Resources for Teachers" page for more open source or web-based products. You will need to download it to your classroom computers. Downloading the software is very easy. Make sure you also download the stamps. Tux paint could be integrated into many curriculum areas. The Tux Paint site provides lesson plans and ideas from other teachers using the product.

BBC Art Education
Art work, featured artists, activities and more await you at this BBC art web site.

Cumulate Draw?
Complete drawing program. Very easy to use. Highly recommended!

The World Wide Art Gallery

Students will be able to post their art work on the web. Students will also be able to view other student's art work.
